Insecurity In Moiuniversity

Insecurity has been a great challenge all over the country and Moi university main campus as institution has been experiencing series of causes related to insecurity in the recent past. Students have been complaining of frequent theft, personal threats from others, others trailed by unknowns at night but the most recent one called for an alarm in bringing resolutions in the security bill of the university’s constitution.
Yesterday was a fateful Sunday as one of the female students was found dead around Bucca hostel. As per the evidence Charity Muthoni Maina from the school of arts and social sciences, was raped before murdered and dumped in a bush around the hostel. The incident resultedtoa riot from the student claiming for insecurity in the campus. This led to clashes between the anti-riot police and the students that left some student injured and one of the police land rovers razed in fire.
The students had threatened of more destructions if the administration especially the Vice Chancellor would not address them on the matter and point out to them the actions taken on the tragedy.
To his response the Moi university vice chancellor Prof Mibey and the deputy vice chancellor student affairs pointed out the immediate actions to be put into action to cub the problem. This included setting up a new hostel that will reside all the female students inside the university hostels in a period of one month, starting a police patrol at night in all of the places where any student resides to make sure that all the students are secured, working close with the landlords around the school to make sure that the rentals are secured and all the bushes around are cleared, regulating the operating time of the clubs around the school and others.
In all this it is now up to the administration and the students themselves to corporate and make sure the new policies are imposed. Peter Marshall a philosopher and a poet says “small deeds done are better than big deeds planned”
