24 HOURS WITHOUT WATER

Residents of the Soweto hostels in the campus were forced to do all their activities without water following the drying up of the taps for a whole day on Saturday. The students as usual had woken up early in the morning ready for their washing activities of the weekend only to find the whole of the Soweto section taps had no water.

Usually, the students are notified a day before  if any shortage of the kind is expected but this time, the water crisis caught them unawares leaving most of the them  stranded not knowing what to do being that it was on a weekend, a time when most of the students  do their cleaning.

Being unaware of the crisis, some students left their water carrying containers at the taps hoping water would come and the containers be filled. The containers left the taps unfilled with this commodity because there was no a single tap that could ran water until the following day.

According to the janitors in charge of the various Soweto hostels, the crisis was all because of the renovation of the school   water system that forced the closing up of the main water channels leading to the campus.

Most of the residence of these hostels condemned the incident saying that a shortage of the kind expected, should be informed to them earlier so that they could be prepared and armed.
